what a deal ! this is a great setup for beginners through experts ! light output is great . we struggled with the choice of high output , or t5 , or power compact . my friend has the t5 setup and it isnt even comparable. we decided to go with this model cause its all in one , and unless you have a dominated hard coral tank i recommend you do the same . it does get a bit warm , but i took the laxan off tht covers the bulbs and just put lexan over the top of my tank instead . presto , no more heat , and my tank heater doesnt even run anymore because of the new top
